BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) ? Prices in Argentina have surged so dramatically in recent months that the government has multiplied the
size of its biggest bank note in circulation by five ? to 10,000 pesos,
    worth about $10.

The central bank announcement Tuesday promised to lighten the load for
many Argentines who must carry around giant bags ? occasionally,
suitcases ? stuffed with cash for simple transactions. Argentina?s
annual inflation rate reached 287% in March, among the highest in the
    world.

The new denomination note ? five times the value of the previous biggest
bill ? is expected to hit the streets next month in a bid to ?facilitate transactions between users,? the central bank said. The 10,000 peso note
is worth $11 at the country?s official exchange rate and $9 at the black market exchange rate.

Across Argentina, hard currency ? specifically, the country?s ubiquitous 1,000-peso notes ? remains the most popular way to pay for things. When
first printed in 2017, the 1,000-peso note was worth $58 on the black
market. Now, it?s worth a dollar.

Given the instability unleashed by Argentina?s worst financial crisis in
two decades, vendors prefer old-fashioned cash payments for big
purchases and offer steep discounts to incentivize paper bills over electronic transfers.

Argentina?s libertarian President Javier Milei, who took office last December, campaigned on a promise to tame inflation and stabilize the
local currency by reversing the policies of past left-leaning
governments that printed money to finance public spending.

But in the meantime, his harsh austerity drive has pushed prices up to
levels in the U.S. and Europe, adding to the economic woes of ordinary Argentines. A massive nationwide strike, the latest in a series of
    protests, is planned for Thursday.

Even as annual inflation remains high, Milei cites a gradual slowdown in Argentina?s monthly inflation rate since last December to insist his
plan is working. Confident consumer prices can continue creeping
downward, policymakers lowered the central bank?s key interest rate
    three times last month."

Well of course it's nowhere near as idyllic as The Garden of Oregon. Do
you know how to eat an elephant?

The TBoob is just playing his usual role defending anything the left
does. Yeah, he's a stupid fuck. After decades of socialist policies
that had the country on the verge of total collapse, the people rose up
and decided to try something else. President Javier Milei said there
was going to be some pain involved to get things on the right track. He
called it shock therapy. Even a leftist like the TBoob should know
that. The option of staying the course and ending up with everyone
starving to death was not a very appealing choice. Almost immediately
he dissolved half of the ministries in the country. These were corrupt
party jobs doing nothing for the citizens of the country except spend
money and accept bribes for turning a blind eye. He is removing trade
barriers and labor protections. Fuck the unions and let's get back to
free trade! He is privatizing all the publicly owned companies his predecessors stole, since everyone knows government can't run shit and
    never makes a profit.

In a normal world, the US would back and help this government become
functional with financial support and intelligence. Of course the FJB
regime won't since they hate democracy and wish the US would fail
similarly so they could take a more aggressive stance against anyone
    opposing their political goals.

If the people of Argentina are willing to fight for their freedom and democracy, Milei has a way forward. If they've become lazy, entitled,
and are simply looking for government to take care of them, it will
descend into chaos. People like the TBoob make me sick. They support
policies that destroy things, and then laugh at the difficulty
encountered trying to right the ship.

    a Russian asset!
    ---------
Humire explained that Milei’s government has largely focused on clearing
out external agitators, particularly those connected to Russian
disinformation networks, which remain a paramount concern in most parts
of the world as Moscow seeks to expand its influence.

"The external forces are usually the key," Humire said. "Usually, it’s
the Russians. The Russians have probably the biggest disinformation
networks to be able to amplify local grievances and turn them into this
macro instability, and they did that in Colombia, in Chile."

"A lot of the specifics of the nation’s security has been in mitigating
these agitation networks that create chaos throughout the country, and
they have been neutralizing some of these threats while they’re studying others," he added.

that but they are too stupid, ill-informed and/or uninformed to know
    what they are voting for.
