    Hi Bill,
The different languages. Maybe I'll come back in a few months.

It's Thai, and I think it originates from Google Groups, and I don't
know if they intend to do anything about it. I don't use GG, so I
don't know if you can filter it out. I use astraweb with Seamonkey,
and I've managed to filter it out. It doesn't show up at all in news.eternal-september.org. If you have a newsreader, you could use
    them, I suppose. https://www.eternal-september.org/RegisterNewsAccount.php?language=en

From knowledgeable folks on various Usenet focused groups, the
greatest likelihood by far is that Google will do nothing about
the massive spamming hitting Usent via Google Groups. Some peers
are filtering out everything from Google, others are not. So what
you see will be affected by the server(s) you use.

With some news clients it's pretty simple to filter out posts from
GG. For example, here's one of the lines I use for scoring in
    slrn...

    [rec.*]
    Score:: =-9999
    Message-ID: .*googlegroups.com

I made my filtering group specific rather than across all groups
because a couple of groups have legitimate (and worthwhile)
    contributors who use GG.

the massive spamming hitting Usent via Google Groups.

First they made some of the worst affected groups read only. Of course,
that makes participation in a group pretty impossible. Lately, I guess
they're using CAPTCHAs in some way or another. They're not serious
    about stopping it.

    Some peers
are filtering out everything from Google, others are not. So what
you see will be affected by the server(s) you use.

From what I've heard, there were only temporary total blocks on Google
to protect their servers from the onslaught, but most have been lifted
and the server owners are simply processing NoCeMs from several sources.
This of course leads to false positives which they have to
    continually work on to eliminate.

I use the injection-info header for mine.

I made my filtering group specific rather than across all groups
because a couple of groups have legitimate (and worthwhile)

I go server wide, and whitelist if I desire to see someone's posts. The whitelist is small.

NOTE: If you use Google Groups I don't see you,
unless you're whitelisted and that's doubtful.

Oh, that's a good idea. Now why didn't *I* think of that!?

You used to brag how you didn't use a filter - you just averted your
eyes. You must have gone allegedly forward and embraced your inner
    allegedly smart part.

I've gotten significantly older and the number of assholes that I can efficaciously dodge with just my neurofilter has gotten significantly
smaller. And I've had so little experience with Seamonkey newsgroup
filters, it took me awhile to figure out how to filter the Thai
    asshole army.
