lol. It isn't likely to be much of a fight. It's relatively easy to get a measure on the ballot here--if you are willing to spend enough money. Usually someone pays canvessors to go out and get signatures. Unless it's something seriously annoying I
usually sign these things because the canvessors are usually paid by the number of signatures they get. During the season I usually see these people outside my library. Some of those folks will have a whole stack of petitions for ballot measures.
Successful DIY campaigns are rare. Then these idiots have to convince us that this is for our own good. So far I don't think we have started any major fires.

And look what happened. Most stations are required to have an attendant available for handicapped people and people who don't want to pump their own gas. They are not allowed to charge extra for this service. I have gotten better service since the
law changed. Usually there's an attendant there before I can get to the pump. The biggest problem with the old law was waiting for someone to deal with you twice. Some places you had to wait 3 times because you have to go inside to pay for your gas. I
don't think they will find a lot of Oregonians who want to wait on pump jockeys again.

If you're looking for trouble in paradise this is the story for you:

Except for some of the idiots in city hall, no one but a complete moron thought that the this law would survive in court. The courts keep telling them the same thing. "You can't make it illegal to be homeless."

I don't think the people running that union are particularly bright. Earlier this year they tried to recall a state congress critter from Eugene. This guy is a long time union supporter, but he didn't get their favorite bill passed. Basically they
were trying to legislate their way into the pot business and their bill wasn't likely to survive a court test. It died of natural causes. After spending over $300,000 on the recall campaign they lost spectacularly. The vote was 90% against.

They only have around 25,000 members, spread over several states and a number of different industries. It looks like it's mostly grocery workers. I dunno, maybe they figure that any publicity is good publicity, but it hard to see what they hope to
    accomplish.

They would need a little over 117,000 valid signatures of registered voters to get on the ballot. Naturally, I went looking for more numbers.

"Ballotpedia's cost-per-required-signature (CPRS) report analyzes the signature-gathering costs of ballot initiative campaigns. In 2022, 30 citizen-initiated measures[1] were on the ballot. Proponents of these initiatives conducted initiative petition
signature drives and qualified to appear on the state's statewide ballot. Signature requirements such as the number of signatures required, maximum circulation periods, and other requirements vary by state.

CPRS is calculated as a campaign's total spending on signature gathering relative to the minimum number of signatures required. You can read more about how we measure signature gathering below.

For elections in 2022, 140 statewide ballot measures were certified for the ballot in 38 states. Of this total, 30 measures were citizen initiatives. Campaigns for these citizen-initiated measures spent a combined $118.29 million on signature gathering.
The average CPRS in 2022 was $12.70, an increase from $8.09 in 2020, $6.19 in 2018, and $6.93 in 2016.

The average total petition drive cost for 2022 was $4.08 million, an increase from previous years. In 2020, the average total petition cost was $2.06 million. In 2018, the average cost was $1.13 million. In 2016, the average cost was $1.03 million. From
2016 to 2022, the average cost of a petition drive increased 297%.

The number of citizen-initiated measures that qualified for the ballot decreased 61% from 2016 to 2022, with 76 in 2016 and 30 in 2022.

    HIGHLIGHTS
$118.29 million was spent on signature drives for certified ballot initiatives in 2022.
$4.08 million was the average petition drive cost in 2022. In 2020, the average cost was $2.06 million.
$12.70 was the average CPRS for 2022. In 2020, the average CPRS was $8.09."

    https://ballotpedia.org/Ballot_measure_signature_costs,_2022

By the time you add in the cost of a campaign to sell this thing it's hard to see how this would payoff, even if they won. I don't think that's likely, but I am curious about what in the world they're trying to do. You would think they could find
better ways to spend their money.

If you're looking for interesting battles a better one is the grocery chains who would like to escape from our antique alcohol distribution system. It's a remnant of the post-prohibition reforms. Everything goes through the OLCC and their
warehouses and then to licensed distributors. It used to be Oregon Liquor Control Commission. Now it's the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission. Right now there's an uneasy truce, but the grocers are looking at taking a shot at the ballot box again. The
people who would lose money are our long time entrenched alcohol distributors. That's a fight that makes sense, but the grocers don't like the idea of spending all that money with no guarantee that it will pay off.

Please replace that term with "Gasoline Dispensing Person" or "GDP" in

Pay attention. That would literally be an inaccurate and misleading description of what the CNH is doing. The CNH is Not dispensing. The motahsicklist does the dispensing. The CNH Hands the nozzle to the motahsicklist, and then rehands it when the sickler is finished

"...an attendant would have to hand them (motahsicklists) the >>>>>>>>> nozzle." ?
Jesus F. Christ. I need something better than a HawHawHaw for that >>>>>>>>> one. I didn't think I could be surprised by
    dumbasses.........but I
    was wrong about that.

           I don't
think the people running that union are particularly bright.

Nevertheless, with the hundreds of thousands of jobs that have
been "created", you'd think the members could find something
    better than Certified Nozzle Handler.

Right-wingnut christian fundamentalist retrumplicans do not
appreciate the term "Nozzle Handler" (except for Lowrent Blowbert, >>>>>> of course). Please replace that term with "Gasoline Dispensing
Person" or "GDP" in future communications referencing such employees. >>>>>
Pay attention. That would literally be an inaccurate and misleading
description of what the CNH is doing. The CNH is Not dispensing.
The motahsicklist does the dispensing. The CNH Hands the nozzle to
the motahsicklist, and then rehands it when the sickler is finished
    dispensing.
Sheesh. You sound like a Baptist AI trying to force its values on me. >>>>>

It's not a "Nozzle". It's a "Gasoline Dispensing Device" (GDD). Good
grief! You're gonna have every baptist AI  crying and praying for
    your soul.

The law calls it a "nozzle". It's a nozzle. Are you a Baptist? Or
    just a run-of-the-mill generic dumbass?

    How's your speed these days?

The law sets a speed limit. You don't follow that. Hobson's choice!
    Hobson's choice.

    Ping - 27
    Up - 175.63
    Down 5.20

Hobson made you get that backwards?

    That goddamn Elon.
