This Sunday will mark one year since the death of Jessica
Chambers. She was found burned alive on a Panola County back
road. A year later, and there are still no arrests.
Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby told FOX13 his department has
fresh leads in the case.
"In talking to the investigators recently, they are working on
something that appears to be positive towards the
investigation," Sheriff Darby said. "Of course, I have to be
careful and safe to protect anything I say."
For Jessica's father, Ben, it has been a roller coaster of
emotions.
"Had so many ups and downs," Chambers said. "We thought we had
them a while back, and it was a let down. It's just so hard."
FOX13 asked the sheriff how confident he is about the recent
leads and whether or not they could yield an arrest.
"You know there are no 100 percents on anything, no 100 percent
guarantees, but we feel good about it," Sheriff Darby said.
Jessica's father said he has grieved for the last year. And
until the case closes, his wounds won't close.
Her family is holding an online candlelight vigil on Sunday to
remember her. To found out how you can join, CLICK HERE.
