    replying, check the dates of the previous posts in the thread, and
    decide if you are willing to respond to Very Old Posts (TM).

    For instance the post you are replying to is more than 15 months old,
    and that was part of a 4-post "sub-thread" based on a post to a thread
    that was already, at that time, 20 *years* old.

    Now, if you are will to "razz the thread," fine. But do be aware you
    are doing so, please. :-)

    Oh, and I'm not a fighter, so I don't know nothin' 'bout armor. ;-)

    In the SCA they are actually hitting each other with 2" wooden swords. (Basically a 2" x 2" ratan solid stick) even in armor you leave with huge bruises and sometimes stiches. You learn to protect yourself with your shield, but you have all levels of
    fighters in battle. In tournaments you can have squires going up against knights. It gets pretty intense. :)
