This Wednesday, June 13, 9--11 p.m., at Folk Night at The Ship
Pub in St. John’s, Newfoundland, the headliners are The Old
Contemporaries. There is also an open mic set between
the two headline sets and open mic performers get a free beer.
Cover is only $5 and there are three door prizes.
Also the kitchen is open until 8 p.m.
Here is the blurb from the Facebook event page, which is
https://www.facebook.com/events/194409111372104/
"The Old Contemporaries is a folk/roots project in St. John's made up of a group of friends from varying musical backgrounds, gathering around a microphone to find their distinct sound as a string band. The group began casually as a trio of singers (Andrew Laite, Josh Sandu & Adam Smith) with a shared passion for harmony, spending time learning each other's favourite
songs to offer an eclectic mix of styles and arrangements. With the addition
of fiddle and upright bass (Maria Cherwick, Josh Ward), the group has since been designing a dynamic sound with the intention of sharing a selection of quality songs, both old and new.”
Then after the show I usually go around the corner to hear the last
set of Andrea Monro at The Black Sheep Pub.
