    Hello,

A friend of mine is a singer/songwriter. He recently had
an audition with the Crystal Image Talent Agency. They
said that they could get him a spot on the television
show Nashville Star Seek. But it would cost him $400.

To me this sounds like a scam. Is anyone familiar with
this agency or program? The show is supposed to be
syndicated and on sattelite TV. Any information you have
about them would really be appreciated.

If this isn't the right news group for this posting
    could you suggest another group?

    Thanks,
    Bruce Behrens

You can take this little piece of advice or you can throw it away...
Someone told me a long time ago to never work with anyone who will
not supply you with references. Reputable businesses will be more
than happy to give you references. Don't believe the shit that
some will try to tell you about the music business being closed
lipped and not giving references, etc. because it's crap. I
have contacted and been contacted by many people claiming to have
contacts, yet none would give any references that I could verify.
Recently I got the name of a music attorney who supposedly had
contacts a major labels. I called expecting the same old line
about no references, but was suprised when he began to spout off
names at Sony, Arista, Atlantic, and others. I got the numbers
of these people at the labels and their secretaries (of course
the big wigs are always in meetings) told me that this guy was
very reputable. So the line about no references is pure shit.

Now back to the subject at hand. We heard about this same deal a
few months ago, so I called. Of course, I asked for references.
And, of course, they wouldn't give me any. So I told them no thank
you and hung up. They called me back for four days and finally
gave me a name (that I have never heard of) at some studio in
Nashville (again, that I have never heard of) and said they did
work with him. Shit, it could have been this guys brother for
all I know. Plus, the last time I called their "business" number,
a woman answered and I could hear her telling a child to go in
the kitchen and fix a sandwich. Now there are companies that have
kitchens in the office, but you make up your own mind.

Lastly, no reputable music establishment will ask for money up
front. If they say that you are good and they can do something
for you, they will make you sign a contract asking for a percentage
of whatever they get you (which is normal), but no one asks for
    money up front.

    Just my two cents,
    David
Hello Tony here. This is legit and also on A satelite channel
I played in an audition then went to Nashville to the stage
