    P. P. Narayanaswami posted a summary. For those of you who missed
it, here is a compilation with stuff added from discussions on
this thread. If I missed out anything, send me email and update

Invariably features Kanada as a preferred Ragam.

Karnatak raga Kannada has no resemblence to kAnaDA whatsoever.
Kannada is a janya of 29the mela Sankarabharanam.

    ======================================================

In Hindustahni Paddhathi, "kAnaDa" refers to a family
of rAgAs of which darbari Kanada is getting exceedingly
    popular in Karnatik music.
Darbari kAnandA is called the King of Ragas - raga of the
Kings. It uses the komal (= shuddha) dhaivatam. This rAgA
has been imported to carnatic and is popular. Huseni kAnadA
or sahAnA of the north resembles the carnatic rAgA kAnadA.
Darbari Kanada, Nayaki Kanada, Abhogi Kanada, Sahana Kanada,
    Huseni Kanada, and so forth.
nAyaki kAnadA of the north is a kAnadA devoid of Dha. Koushi
kAnadA is a kAnadA with elements of malkauns (hindOlam),
    bhimpalasi (abhEri) and bAgeshrI.

    -------------------------------------------------
    Warren Senders adds:

    Darbari Kanada (Hindustani Bandishes):
    Drut:
    Kinu Bairain Kaan Bhare
Ghar Jaane De Chhand Mori Bhai
    Jo Guru Kripa Kare
    Matawa Bare La
    Vilambit Khyals:
Aur Nahin Kacchu Kam Ke Ram Ke
    Mubarak Badiyan Shadiyan
    Eri Bi

    Kaunsi Kanada:
    Vilambit Khyal:
    Rajan Ke Raja

    Nayaki Kanada:
    Vilambit Khyal:
    Mero Piya

    Shahana Kanada:
    Drut Khyal:
    Main To Tumse Hori Kheloongi

    Other Kanada variants include:
Jayant Kanada (mix of darbari, shahana & jaijaivanti)
    Raisa Kanada (not sure)
Chandramukhi Kanada (mix of darbari & rishabh Chandrakauns)
    Basanti Kanada (mix w/Basant)
    Kanada Malhar (0bvious)

There is some controversy about Abhogi -- some say that Abhogi Kanada is Abhogi but restricted to the sangathi GMRS, while shuddha Abhogi can use MGRS as in Bageshri. This is one opinion and not necessarily a consensus.
