    Can´t find any city named Yaman . Certainly not at Google maps . Some web research results seem ambiguous .

    On the other hand in other sources the country Yemen is being mentioned ,

    I've read somewhere that according to legend, Amir Khusro composed Yaman based off of a melody that a Yemeni Merchant hummed - or something along those lines.

    Didn´t know this version ...
    What I know is that Kalyan thaat does not exist in the Arabic Maqam system , but it does in the Turkish Makam system ( = Pencgah )
