• Oliver Craske's New Ravi Shankar 'Biography', 'Indian Sun'

Has anyone read - or tried to read - Oliver Craske's new biography of Ravi Shankar, 'Indian Sun: The Life and Music of Ravi Shankar'?

When I read that the book was coming out I wondered why, because Panditji had done a marvellous job of documenting his own life in his main autobiograpy, 'Raga Mala: The Autobiography of Ravi Shankar'.

Everything that Oliver Craske writes in 'Indian Sun' seems to just be a re-wording of what Shankar wrote in 'Raga Mala'. (Shankar's book is much longer and much more detailed than Craske's book).

Craske's book provides no new information whatever, and it actually makes me cringe that he has so bald facedly taken from Shankar's book; what an embarrassing thing to do.

Why make a whole book out of stringing together facts from another book (and another book which has been much better written and edited)?

    Ridiculous.

    What a waste of time.
