I had (have?) the same problem on my 1967 ES 175. It appears to be the neck pickup vibrating against the black pickup surround. I've pushed a tiny piece of latex rubber, almost impossible to see, between the pickup and the surround which seems to cure
the problem... (I occasionally have to re-push it in correctly) But I think that Mikeo's solution is certainly better - it means unscrewing the pickup surround but no big deal I suppose. I do hope this will help somebody, at least to diagnose the problem.
