THE WAY WE FEEL: A Continuing Celebration of the music of Gordon Lightfoot began in January 2003 with standing room only concerts in Toronto & Ottawa. Over the years the show has played soft seat theatres across Ontario, in addition to annual shows at
the legendary Hugh's Room in Toronto. Almost 100 Canadian Roots, Jazz, Folk & Blues artists have participated in the concerts!
January 2017 will mark the 15th anniversary of the concerts with a 4 night stand at Hugh's Room. What better time to launch The Way We Feel--an album that captures the magic we have put on stage in a high-quality studio recording!
Artists who have conditionally agreed to participate in the recording include: Ron Sexsmith, DALA, The Good Brothers, Oh Susanna, CADENCE, Jory Nash, Lori Cullen, Kevin Fox, Justin Rutledge, Peter Katz, Suzie Vinnick, Rick Fines and more!
A backing band featuring Jason Fowler, David Matheson, David Woodhead & Burke Carroll brings the highest level of professionalism to the studio. Liner notes will be written by our emcee, acclaimed writer and host David Newland. Juno award-winning
designer A Man Called Wrycraft will bring his talents to bear on the album design and packaging.
The project is perfectly timed, with Canada's 150th anniversary celebrations on the horizon. 2017! And YOU can help make it happen! To make a professional CD worthy of this outstanding lineup and Lightfoot's body of work will require $50,000 in
crowdfunded contributions.
This will be an ALL OR NOTHING crowdfunding campaign. If we reach our goal we will record in summer 2016 for release in January 2017. If we do not succeed all contributions will be returned to contributors at the conclusion of the campaign. If we exceed $
50,000, additional artists will be hired, and we will create a video documentary component as well.
As producer of The Way We Feel concerts for 15 years, it is my vision and passion to create a recording that truly honours Gordon Lightfoot's enduring legacy in song.
