Check out this video with Chris Thile, famous mandolin player,
where he describes his picking hand technique. It's partly valid
for guitar playing as well. The stuff about letting gravity pull
your pick through the string on downstrokes rather than trying to
force it yourself has helped me tremendously. The downstrokes is
the place where I've been tensing up before.
