    Belgium is held together by the transition of funds from French to Flemish (before WWII) or from Flemish to French (after WWII) speaking regions - more or less like the transition of funds from northwestern to southeastern regions guarantees the unity of
    the EU.

    The Royals are something the Belgians got stuck with after they chased away the ancestor of the present Dutch king in the 1830s.
