    I'm just curious about what you think of it -- not so much execution but the conception. The phrasing, rubato, combined with such a refined timbre and touch is really disconcerting for me. It just seems a bit too "studied."

    If you look at Discogs it had multiple releases, so I guess it was a marketing success.

    First movement thoughts: Yes, lots of admirable details adding up to an overdone impression. It's not precious Mozart with that dynamic range.

    I'd probably like it in the recital hall if the piano is up to the hammering.

    From the timing, I assumed the clip was more than one movement! I'll
    take that as a point about the weightiness of taking all the repeats.


    Thanks. I find it really hard to listen to those Mozart sonatas!

    I just found this list of Pletnev releases released by Melodyia. The Mozart is streaming here in the UK so I guess the rest is too.

    Of these I very have enjoyed some of the 1979 concert, and the Grieg.

    agree..........wonderful control, musically not 'natural', sound phony.....
