Very satisfactory transfer of Thyssens Valentin’s barcarolles
here - much better than Testament and Bibliothèque Nationale
de France - I couldn’t tolerate the sound on either of those two.
The interpretation is very close to my ideal. Diaphanous. The
transfer reveals that she had extraordinary delicacy, a beautiful
tone and touch.

HenkI think Volondat’s got ideas about tempo and even phrasing - that’s good, he’s thought about it and isn’t on autopilot. The problem is that when he plays louder, or uses strong accents, it’s not so beautiful.
Hubeau is quite a jolly! Cheerful unpretentious barcarolles. More forceful than delicate. Not particularly nuanced in terms of touch, colours etc. I kind of feel that he’s just a pianist running through the music - not special or inspired.https://groups.google.com/u/1/g/rec.music.classical.recordings/c/jYzgrNfr26Q/m/pELv7xrWFcsJ

Very satisfactory transfer of Thyssens Valentin’s barcarolles here - much better than Testament and Bibliothèque Nationale de France - I couldn’t tolerate the sound on either of those two.
