Someone just posted a mystery violinist quiz on
YouTube. My ears are not up to the task of solving
this quiz, they are only tuned for vibrato-less pianos.

    Herman, can you help?

    Thanks!

    Probably not. The description on
the YT page suggests the fiddler
is a living person who deserves
to be better known. I also don't
    see any evidence Ricci recorded
    Lensky.

There was a thread about a year ago in which the following link was posted: Netherlands Bach Society playing BWV 140, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqZE54i-muE

Just listened to bits of it again:
He is probably a very competent violinist, but I hated the interpretation... so clean... so dull...

You could hear him there and I thought he was horrible... (not interested in the pieces he played in the link you provided, so no judgement there).

I cannot find any evidence he actually recorded Lensky.
The Lensky performance is superb, however I have a
faint suspicion it is misattributed. It is inconsistent
with the sound and the style we hear in all his other
    recordings available on YouTube.

Correction: apparently this performance comes from

    Matter of (dis)taste.
(not interested in the pieces he played in the link you
    provided, so no judgement there).
I cannot find any evidence he actually recorded Lensky.
The Lensky performance is superb, however I have a
faint suspicion it is misattributed. It is inconsistent
with the sound and the style we hear in all his other
    recordings available on YouTube.
Correction: apparently this performance comes from
his 2005 "Preludes" album, which does not seem to
be available from any of the sources I checked, and
is said to have become a cult item.

    This maybe

I'd like to hear his solo Bach CD, but that is totally unobtainable as far as I can see.

Definitely not 440, though it sounds
close enough I cannot tell exactly.

    Common mistunings include 443,
    432, 428, 418, 415, and even lower.

I would not expect so. Most people in
this ng speak in tongues and write
    gibberish. Who knows what Melmoth
means when he writes escargots or
yaks. Make sure to make the glossary
