Gross miscalculation -- unless they play harpsichord music.

Pittsburgh used to play Vivaldi in their subway stations to discourage kids from hanging out. This was 15-20 years ago IIRC. Don't know if they still do.

Usually these urban legend like stories don't list
any particular classical music in particular, as if
it all sounds the same, that's why these stories
    are doubtful.

    Here's an exception to that:

    https://www.businessinsider.com/composer-objected-la-metro-blasting-music-deter-unhoused-people-2023-4

"...news outlets reported that it was blasting music, including
    Barcelona-based composer Adrián Berenguer's four-minute piece
"Immaterial", which it played on loop.

The music was played at an average of 83 decibels and peaked at 90 dB,
the Times measured, which is as loud as a leaf blower and can damage
hearing after a couple hours of exposure. (A Metro official insisted the
music was never louder than 72 dB)...

Wakim told Insider that as Metro officials have instead moved on to
playing Bach or Beethoven, the policy choice generally has a dark history."
