    No. If there is something (in the sense
    implied here), there is something (rather
    more than less) ado about it. Stravinsky,
    for example.

    Thanks for providing an example. How
    much ado and how much nothing there
    is in a work of music clearly depends on
    one's hearing and on one's expectations.
    To my ears, Stravinsky's music is a lot of
    ado about next to nothing.

    You make it personal. There was much ado about Stravinsky, even before my time. Prokofiev couldn't beat it and returned home.

    Unless linked to the "usuals," today's music is played by professionals for an audience of professionals and their kindred.
