    Dan brought up Richter's a few weeks ago, I think Cortot here gives him a run for his money in terms of conception if not in terms of execution.
    And listen to the hallucinogenic, psychedelic playing around 10:05 - he must have had a puff of one of his opium cheroots before playing.

    It's a good performance, except the finale is a bit too much for Cortot at that age.
    I have other favourites.

    Thanks. I prefer Cortot's version with the exception of Var. 16, although even Richter's Var. 16 isn't among my favourites (a.o. Horowitz, Magaloff).
