What does "moved me deeply" mean in this context? What does "greatest" mean? How is deep related to great? Or is it a tautology: deepest = greatest?

I don't want to be "deeply moved" when I listen to music. I just want to like the music and listen to something that's in tune with my mood at the time.

The idea of being "deeply moved" all day sounds rather psychiatric to me.....

    No moodal counterpoint? ;-)

I like to experience some flavor of emotional engagement
and intellectual excitement. I would not go as far at to be
specific about the flavor. It all depends on the situation.

I prefer to listen to jazz while driving. It improves my
attention and my mileage -- sometimes by as much
as 30 mph! There are very few classical works I can
listen to while driving -- the most notable exception
being Iberia. I can listen to Iberia non stop all the
time every time of the day or the night, no matter
what else I am doing at the same time.

Something I seek of music these days is something to clear my head.

I don't like having tunes "stuck" in my head, so music that'll clear
that out, without leaving anything behind itself, is great. Very
    practical for the 21st century.

You can really listen to the Schubert E-flat trio without any of it
    sticking in your head?

No. That music does not serve such a purpose.

Perhaps to be more clear, while there are some "tunes" that I don't
want in my head at all, ever -- e.g. commercial jingles -- there's
other "tuneful" music that I do enjoy. Even then, it might overstay
its welcome, and I'll seek to evict. Likely to be invited back at
    some point....

Oh, good. I actually found your initial response incomprehensible.
It's not just tunes, at least for me, but some feeling of underlying
harmony, etc., even if I could not articulate what it is.

That's actually why I say tunes, rather than melodies or something
    more technically monophonic, but yes.
