If quality mattered, this conductor would have a smattering of recordings by now. If it was so desired, she is a future major orchestral appointment well worth considering.

Hmm. The orchestra could have played the Brahms at least as well without her. Where are the days that we only saw the back of the maestro?

Tomomi has the same problem as Jascha
    Horenstein and Celibidache pre-Munich:
she is not principal conductor of a major
orchestra with a recording contract with
a major record company. King Record
has released a 14 CD box of recordings
with the Bolshoi Orchestra, the LSO and
    some Japanese orchestra(s). Quality is
very high throughout. It is (or used to be)
available from Amazon JP. It has been
    discussed in this ng.

It seems she has done little conducting since Covid. She holds a research position at Hiroshima U. Her web site is mostly inactive. Maybe she's teaching. On your recommendation, I have enjoyed her work a lot. Her recorded repertoire is painfully
    mainstream, though.

That's why I have never had interest. It's like she's Classic FM.

I have no desire ever to hear the Pathétique again.

I don't have a favourite. I never listen to Tchaikovsky symphonies.
His ballets and operas is where it's at.
And I don't listen to those ever either, at home.

What a perfect example of cognitive dissonance!

Are you fishing for another Scherchen or Monteux

Ormandy was for a long time. Fact is, I seem to prefer the other symphonies these days.
