Call me paranoid, but the editor’s choice to print two “pro-green” letters
to the editor may signal their intention to eliminate the CD altogether
as a cost-cutting/profit-enhancing scheme under the pretext of saving the planet.
The magazine does not now send the plastic jewel case, the major contribution to the magazine’s planetary plastic burden, to North American
subscribers. Should they eliminate the CD, how many continuing
subscribers would choose to burn a CD-R?
I have likewise resolved to terminate my subscription should the
CD be discontinued to avoid the nuisance of burning a CD-R or
the substantial expense of buying DEDICATED equipment to
retrofit a stereo system to access a streaming or downloadable
alternative.

So the BBC Music magazine reminds me that I like Sviridov,
with The Blizzard included on the Jan 2023 issue CD. It's
the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alexander Vedernikov.
Also in the same issue they print two letters from
readers asking the magazine to quit making CDs. If they
do so, I'll cancel my subscription, since CDs are the
selling point.
