Here is a video about Gilels, (in Russian) so time for practice, but very interesting nonetheless. Mainly concerti repertoire.

I was thinking about Szell and Brahms, and veered onto Szell/Gilels, even though I think Fleisher did the concertos better with Szell.

    You certainly have equal opportunity
to turn it into a Dutch language group.

No one is preventing you from posting
anything you like, except your own lack
of imagination. One wonders if there
are any ideas hiding in the holes in
    your holey Gouda brain.

Gilels, like Richter and many other "Russian" pianists was born in the Ukraine.

You might want to celebrate these guys instead.

I know that many Russian geniuses are really from Ukraine.

However, the video was in Russian language.

That was what I was referring to.

Whether it is Russian or Ukrainian is immaterial (both languages have strong similarities). My intention was to notify people, if interested, of a video of a major "Soviet" artist, not now alive, who was/is well known world wide.

Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) has just beaten Elena Rybakina (Rus, but flying under a Khazak flag) in the final of the Australian Open tennis, but it gets a bit ridiculous to single either one of them out, simply because of where they were born. I follow
tennis a lot, and both are gorgeous girls in every way.

I watched the final set and was happy to see Sabelenka finally win a major. If getting over that hump reduces her nerves in tight matches, she may win a bunch before she's done.

I really hope she does too.
