There’s a recording from a concert in Besançon in 1961, transferred by St Laurent Studios and by MeloClassics. Are the transfers satisfying to hear? Is the performance special?

Anyone heard Demidenko?
Listening to Demidenko this morning. The downside is the piano sound. The upside is that it is distinctive interpretation, pretty incandescent. It reminds me of his Schumann concerts in London, which were divisive because he played loud and rarely

my taste as much as Brahms does for example with the Alphorn-part in the 1st Symphony - I hate it. Haydn, Schumann and Mahler symphonies I like much more; Beethoven and Mozart in a league of their own, with Beethoven edging out.I’ve decided I really love this sonata! It certainly is loveable in many aspects, I am just unsure about the whole. And it seems quite underrated and underplayed to me? I prefer him to Brahms actually thinking about it, Brahms is just too thick, generally. And Schumann never seems to against

Oh, I forgot about Schubert and Mendelssohn. So ya, generally I think I'd rate Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn and Schumann's music over Brahms'; not so sure about Mahler, but probably even him thinking about it. Still need to listen tomore Mendelssohn - and also to Schoenberg, Berg and Webern. Thing with Schumann and Mahler is (goes for Brahms as well), I can't find pieces I enjoy wholly.
wrt topic: I like Cziffra here, but vastly prefer Sofronitsky. Of which I think you do too.
