I was just discussing this with a friend and we (modern shoppers we be) thought the price a bit steep for 18 CDs. What about the contents? I've found his Decca Detroit recordings not really as interesting as Mercury when I've had a chance to compare. But I haven't had many chances. What I really want is a chance to grab his Haydn cycle. And a Mercury box would be tempting.
Any other opinions on how attractive this material is?

I have almost all the Dorati recordings (especially Mercury and Decca)... Personally, I have always preferred the Mercury versions...But that's just my choice !...
But for Haydn, of course, the complete symphonies and operas can be
found on Decca...Even if I think that his vision of the symphonies has
aged well...

Ray Hall, TareeI suppose it hasn't, but I have yet to hear a version of #64 that is as satisfying to me as the Dorati.

I just came across this on Presto Music. Available for pre-order, release on January 20.

Now Presto says February 3. And they raised their price from $87.50 to $90, which is still a lot better than Amazon's $147.
