A not so clean performance of one of Busoni's less successful transcriptions. The performer seems to be carried away by her own performance, that's what makes this version of the Dance in the Village Inn interesting.

You moron... offended by literally nothing...

Dan said "?!? her ?!?" because he couldn't understand how Henk (who seems to know a bit about pianists) came up with this idea (as there is nothing that suggests that the pianist is a female, besides Henk probably thinking of a specific pianist after
listening to the performance). No reason to be offended at all.

I don't want to listen to this piece, as I don't like the original nor busoni's transcription, but ""not so clean" for a live performance ?!?" seems to be a reasonable remark as this piece is obviously difficult. And Dan is just wondering how Henk would
say such things (nonsense to be precise), as there aren't many pianists capable of performing it cleanly in live performance (besides Volodos).

just realized "Gezond Verstand" is actually a newspaper in the netherlands; I don't read it, and from what I read on wiki they are bullshit.

But honestly... that people in the 21st century are discussing things like cutting off tits of kids or putting kids on hormone blockers etc... what happened to common sense, people?

Really lovely in this regard was also how John Gavin downplayed putting kids on hormone blockers and hormone therapy (which can lead to sterilisation) and cutting of their tits by mentioning "circumcision"... lol... John Gavin the same guy who went mad
over trump supporters on jan 6, is surprisingly silent about, or rather supportive of the mutilation of children - probably because it's legalized by some authority and deemed "good" by the left...

Similar to how Henk just swallows everything the leftist media tells us about Amnesty (which does "some" good things, but in general, it's a fucked up institution that is antisemitic)

Common sense should tell people that men can't become women...

tbh Henk, there was nothing wrong with what you said here ;D and I should have reacted a bit differently. But you are missing Dan's points (which are criticising your perception)

And another thing is how you contradict yourself in the way you act: you dismiss the piece, by saying that you don't know anyone who would play this version, but then you are listening to it after obviously having realized which version it is. So, I just
thought one should put in back in your place ;) There is nothing wrong with your opinion about the piece, that's not what I criticise, but how you act contradictory.(I don't think btw, that you really were trying to show off - well, maybe I'm wrong and
you really are a douche - but making a funny comment. And also not revealing, so Dan would be able to further manipulate people ;)

I still think though, that in some cases you have a smug attitude (wrt to Israel and Antisemitism etc) and I really have a problem with such attitude.

I appreciate that you have whittled down your objections to these points. We'll speak to each other again, later, in another thread - perhaps?

Who knows, I sure don't want to, but sometimes I'm weak and then try teach even the unteachables (you, mswd, Herman et al) - looking in this ng fo recs, and sometimes I just get caught up in the moment with absolute idiots ;D

Another thing to add is: Taoist and Buddhist ideology is the ideology of smug people ;D having lost all touch with reality, yet teaching the world some childlike fantasies...

think Karajan, Celibidache and Dalai Lama... wrt to Buddhism... smug smug people.

I don't know anyone who would play this
version. The original is far better, imho.

    IMHO Busoni's version has dimensions
the original does not. It sounds more
"orchestral" than the original to my ears.

Egon Petri and Gunnar Johansen used to
perform the Busoni version, and Horowitz
made his own version of it, which I do not
like as much as the one I posted earlier.

There is another version derived from
the Busoni version by Leonid Egorov.

'Gurwitz' is a remarkable pianist, even if you follow him closely with the score.

I agree that the Busoni version is more orchestral. IMO it lacks the leanness and meanness of the original version, compared to this recording by Cziffra, especially the leggiero molto:
