There is already war with China, as there is a war with Russia. The question is how long is will take the US to force China to use military means - as it did force Russia.
The war against China already costs the EU billions of dollars. IIRC, one pundit estimated that a full-fledged war would cost the EU trillions of dollars even if we weren't physically involved.
Presently, six in ten households do not make ends meet or have difficulty making ends meet in the Netherlands.`
It's not difficult to imagine what the consequences will be of an open war with China.

Source of this? It's hard to believe and inconsistent with poverty statistics I found.
Having difficulty making ends meet, and poverty, are different things, according to as many different definitions of poverty.
Globally, and including here in Australia, people are having to reach further into their pockets for the basics, but that doesn't necessarily indicate more poverty, although it could.

Yes, as happened with Russia.

Again, "force"? So we should rather have forced Ukraine not to respond
to Russian aggression? Remember, Russia is the aggressor here. To argue otherwise is simply silly; we are not obligated to buy into Russian
paranoia or its desire to recreate the old Soviet Union.

America as a champion of peace, freedom and democracy - how credible would that be after Vietnam, ..., and most recently Afghanistan? >
I don't blame America for being what it is. It is the strongest kid in the class, it would be too much to ask not to take advantage of that. But whether it imposes its hegemony by force, yes it does.

Sounds about right. After the next election, however, it will depend on "which America". America under Democrats might be very different from America under Trump or Ron De Santis, both of whom are very right wing and liable to steer America intocollision courses particularly on action on climate change.
