    Good word, homely. This week I've listened to her and to Babayan playing some of them. Babayan the better pianist no doubt -- but I still like Kyriaku.

    Have you heard anything else by her? The Albeniz for example.

    Kyriaku's Albeniz has the same characteristics: as if she is playing at home, for herself. It makes her very easy to listen to.

    Listening to Ginette Doyenne now play some songs without words, the lustre of Rene Kyriakou has rapidly worn off for me, the novelty value. She just became annoyingly plain. Anyway Doyenne’s OK - but the best I’ve ever heard in this stuff is Maria

    Beautiful piano used by Cassard for his Mendelssohn disc, a 1901 Steinway which sounds like the instrument Edwin Fischer used for Beethoven sonatas. The booklet credits Cedric Pescia for the piano, maybe he owns it.
