Thanks! One of the best versions I've heard in the last five year, or so. And an impressive second prelude.

    Henk

#2 is my least favourite and I usually skip over it. However, she made
    me like it!

In fact I noticed that second prelude myself, so I guess we're on to something. I didn't get past it, the phone rang, but later I will.

Away visiting family in the Okanagan and have just a tiiny-sounding
laptop. Proper listening will have to wait. BTW I have Sokolov's earlier recording.

No rush. In the meawhile, I am collecting a playlist
with several versions of the Preludes that deserve
    to be heard (IMHO).

I listened to the Sokolov above (I have his early version and Saltzburg)
and Pletnev and dislike them equally. The pianist in your dropbox
version is just a bit too "wayward" to my taste.
I prefer Aimi's more delicate view, however, Chopin must have been in a miserable mood when he wrote that piece!

The pianist in the Dropbox is a Serkin
pupil, arguably the best of his litter. ;-)
    Have you heard Serkin's Chopin
    Preludes?
No! I have very little Serkin in my collection.

He's a bit heavy-handed and "graceless" - more at home with Beethoven.

    Setting aside the wooden interpretation,
he still plays pretty well for his age at
the time. There is an earlier version
from the 40s or 50s that is musically
"better", but horribly recorded. It used
to be on YT but I can no longer find it.
