The few surviving documents of Pietro Scarpini's art are incredible.
Bavarian Radio has him with Kubelik performing Busoni's Piano Concerto - probably the definitive version. AS Disc issued him playing Beethoven's
4th with Furtwängler (RAI Rome Orchestra) and Mozart's 22 with
Mitropoulos. Italian radio taped dozens of hours of his recitals. Does
anyone out there have any broadcasts with him from Italy, France or elsewhere? He was a pupil of Casella but played in a unique, inimitable
way.
