NORTH WINDHAM — Late Thursday night, a minivan crashed into New England Pizza & Restaurant on Boston Post Road in North Windham.

The witness, Dean Fiora of Mansfield, said the experience really shook him up.

The crash into the building happened sometime around 9 p.m. on Thursday night, according to Fiora.

“I had just barely gone into the restaurant when, all of a sudden, this van backed right into the shop,” Fiora said. “It really scared the crap out of me.”

After calling the police and describing the Honda Odyssey, Fiora took to social media and posted about his experience.

“On Thursday night, while I was at New England Pizza, somebody backed his minivan into the wall, leaving a gaping hole, and sped away from the scene,” Fiora posted. “That coward shouldn’t be on the lam for long, though.”

Fiora noted that previous to the crash, the person had just used a card at the liquior store next door.

“When the impact occurred, one customer was knocked off a barstool and hurt his back,” Fiora said. “Lucky for me, I was at the other end of the restaurant. Still, it took about fifteen minutes for my hands to stop shaking.”

Fiora said that it appeared the driver of the van had been sitting in the parking lot for “a considerable amount of time” before the time of the impact. “The person could have been drunk for all we know, and I hope the police catch the person.”

Fiora said that he often visits the restaurant at least once a week and that he will miss them if they have to close down.

Earlier on Friday, the restaurant posted that the shop, located at 319 Boston Post Road in North Windham, would be closed on Friday, Jan. 26, and Saturday, Jan. 27.

Dean will probably be inspired to write another rockabilly song about this incident.

A better question would have been how Bruce knew about this. Sounds like Dean has a stalker.

    -----------
And of course it was on the local news.

Remember the time Doug P. was interviewed by a Detroit TV station about
some big trench near his house? How did we all know about that?
