With this coming on it may be time for us to abandon this outdated forum and start posting instead in a Facebook group, where we can post pictures and embedded videos among other things. Diane won't like it, she refuses to go on Facebook. I suggest we
start using my Facebook Group "List Your Favorite Records." Here is the link:

    What does everybody think?

I don't do Facebook, so I'd be out.

Maybe, but I would also like to be able to edit posts and post pictures like you can do in almost any other forum out there but this no frills shit.

I just downloaded Thunderbird, but it looks like it can only be used with Firefox, which I don't use.

Do Diane and Steve use Firefox - I doubt it, and neither do I...

I/we are aware that you are going to try oh so hard to get people onto Facebook, using vituperative attacks on Usenet along the way ("no
    frills shit") ...

Let's start with something very positive. This Facebook Group,
which seems to have died in late 2021, has many very interesting
lists, in particular from Bruce himself but also from others.

    host "Bruce Roberts Grossberg":
"Cursing, name calling and arguing are encouraged in this group, so
    get to work mother fuckers!"

This rule might be relaxed in future, but currently a new member
has one week to post their top favorite 100 tracks, *ranked in order*,
else they are Verboten from membership.

    What does everybody think?

I don't like the Facebook format compared to Usenet, it cannot
be organized into topics it seems - it's just one message after
    another.

Yes, embedded images are striking, but in Usenet, pictures and videos
    are just one click away.

For me, and I've certainly used both, I prefer Agent to Thunderbird.
One feature Thunderbird has though, if you're willing to take a bit
of extra effort, is that you can format a post with boldened, slanted
    and colored text.

Roger, who I think has some Scottish blood in him from mum, might
have to raid the piggybank, for just under a pony for Agent :-)

Those who use newsreaders other than Google will not have a problem.

oh so true, with newsreaders like Agent or Thunderbird, etc

Those of us who do use Google will have to either switch to one of these... >https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Usenet_newsreaders

thanks, but to be frank, this could be dysfunctional information
    overload

...or give up this part of our lives.

    sad for sure, Bob

offer to pay Diane's return airfare from NY, and Diane might consider
