    Danny And The Juniors {Philly} - At The Hop [Singular 711] - 1957 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPV5FrydqDE
my comment - Danny looks so young

from left, the opening stage lineup is Joe Terranova, Danny Rapp,
    Frank Maffei, Dave White

"a song you could still play at a senior prom now in 2022"

"called 'Mid 20th Century pop music in a 2.5 minute bottle'
because it brought together so many musical threads and music business
    memes"

"Dang that piano is so good"

"I remember when I was a young man growing up in the hood. Why the
fellas and I would gather round the juke box at the old soda shop and
dance to this one for hours. Then we would pop a bunch of uppers and
    do some B&E."

Here's the original version from earlier in 1957 (but never issued at the time) as "Do The Bop". Despite how its credited the group here is actually Johnny Madara & The Juvenaires

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKpKkyUu13g

Apparently Dick Clark heard this tape and advised them to change the title to "At The Hop" and re-record it with Danny Rapp on lead

Thus the real "At The Hop" was recorded and released as Singular 711 before the master was purchased for national release by ABC-Paramount

I believe it was the 1990's before this original "Do The Bop" finally surfaced (with the aid of the famous Relic Rack crowd I think).

Perhaps Bruce can tell us more?

I remember getting a 45 in that had "Do The Bop" but I don't think it came from anyone associated with the store. Maybe Ronnie I, I don't remember who put it out.
