Not Kate Bush or Adele?
I'd take Pet Clark over Dusty, and as far as the best "singer" from there, it's probably Amy Winehouse, who is top 10 on that list.

Not Kate Bush or Adele?
I did say Dusty was "the best UK born femme popular singer OF THE AGE".........
That said I still rate her stuff tops now. Just a few moments of Kate Bush gives me a severe headache and Adele does less than zero for me

Two different songs
"THE Boston Monkey" from the Manhattans is from 1965
The Major Lance written "Boston Monkey" by Billy Butler is from 1966 (and is the flipside of "The Right Track" which was---and still is---an ENORMOUS Northern Soul favorite over here)
Here's a ranked list of female British singers, Dusty is 13th.

MY 1965 LIST:
26 ¦ Third Man Theme ¦ Herb Alpert & TJB

MY 1965 LIST:
26 ¦ Third Man Theme ¦ Herb Alpert & TJB
Notwithstanding that this tune has easily its best ever version in the original 1949 Anton Karas recording I don't get this big thing with Herbie. I've heard most of his singles of course---sweet little throwaway pop tunes that do nothing for me I don'
36 ¦ I Fought The Law ¦ Bobby Fuller FourI liked this one too but I still prefer The Crickets version. I always wondered why that one wasn't a single over there as it was here
53 ¦ Sitting In The Park ¦ Billy StewartGreat record! Sadly Billy lost out over here to a homegrown cover from Georgie Fame that took Top 20 honors in the UK
243 ¦ Concrete And Clay ¦ Unit 4+2Now here's a UK-born record I really liked. It just missed my list but I mention it just to show I did like a few of the local recordings from that time

I don't like the Karas at all, but this one is a killer, one of my 10 favorite instrumentals of all time. I consider the TJB to be like the Glenn Miller of the 1960s. Much more accessible versions of jazz like music for the general public. They werethe first act to have 4 albums in the top 10 the same week on Billboard's LP chart, which now has also been done by Taylor Swift. Chubby Checker once had 5 albums in the top 15.
