• Question on YouTube Links

From Steve Mc@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jan 13 10:09:53 2023
Often when I look for a YouTube song, I get the actual link, but when I
copy and paste that link into Excel, its name copies instead of the
    actual link.

    Like this....

Do You Wanna Dance - YouTube <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEZucB00rYo>

I then have to right click the above, then select edit hyperlink,

    And this is produced ...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEZucB00rYo

Is there a way I can get the actual link the first time ?

    Thanks,

Well, when I wrote this, it showed the wording as Do You Wanna Dance -
YouTube only, without the link that the post showed, he said confusedly.

    Yes, stop using Excel.
I can't. It's like part of me, like my elbow.
Try copying the link into somewhere else first. Then copy it from there and then paste it into Excel. A good place is this group. click on "new conversation" and paste the link in there. Then recopy the link from there. That should get rid of whatever
info is coming along when you original copy the link.

Thanks for this. I was looking forward to trying it, but alas, the same
fucking problem. I even tried pasting it to Word first, but same thing.

Well that would be too time consuming, and subject to my frequent typos,
but you gave me an idea.

I did a paste special text instead of the paste and  viola, it worked.
    So thanks for the suggestion.

I wasn't suggesting that you do that all the time. I just wanted to know if a URL can go in there at all without changing. At least you solved it.
