Long Tall Sally - Marty Robbins
Always liked Marty's version which is my second favorite version of
the song. Here's my list of versions rated in order of merit that I
posted here some years back
1. LITTLE RICHARD (by absolute light years!!!)
2. MARTY ROBBINS
3. EDDIE COCHRAN
4. WANDA JACKSON
5. ELVIS PRESLEY
6. BARBARA GREENE
7. JERRY LEE LEWIS
8. CARL PERKINS
9. THE BEATLES
10. THE RIVINGTONS
While we're on the subject of "Lomg Tall Sally" I guess mention must
be made of the terrific answer record to the song that swamps all
these covers asnd remakes
"Run Uncle John! Run" by Jerry McCain & HIs Upstarts

Honey Hush - Jerry Lee Lewis
????
I have this as recorded at a summer 1957 session for Sun along with
"Drinkin' Wine Spo Dee O Dee" and Singing The Blues". , That's from
the Escott/Hawkins Sun session files
Down younder We Go Ballin' - Smiley Lewis
One of the few Smiley numbers to make it over to these shores--but
with a different flipside. Instead of the US "Someday" we got it
paired with "Don't Be That Way" (the UK title for "Please Listen To
Me")
Marianne - Terry Gilkyson & Easy Riders
One of the better pop records of the year
Come Back My Lover - Heartbreakers
Isn't it just "Come Back My LOVE"?
I still have a UK copy of the old Vanguard LP of the Apollo Theatre
show with this song on it.. Glorious version
Boogie Woogie Country Girl - Joe Turner
One of my favorite JT numbers this had a different flip in UK to the
USA original where it was B side to "Corrine Corrina". Over here it
was topside to "The Chicken And The Hawk".
Tonight You Belong To Me - Patience & Prudence
Seriously?
The Poor People Of Paris - Les Baxter
Always liked this tune but I prefer the UK Winifred Atwell pianna
version
Hot Diggity - Perry Como
Maddeningly catchy Como number that was a huge hit over here too.
Blue Moon - Elvis
My second favorite version of the song after The Marcels
Recorded in a studio session for Sun Records on August 19 1954
along with "Tomorrow Night" and "I'll Never Let You Go"
A Casual Look - Little Clydie & Teens
Cover of the Six Teens' famous number by the future soul diva Clydie
King
BTW last year I sold a nice UK copy of the Six Teens' original on
London for a goodly three figure sum (real rare on UK London release)
Ruby Baby - Drifters
Always loved this song both in the Drifters original and the later
Dion remake. On my 1956 list tho this one is beaten by even better
numbers like "Your Promise To Be Mine","I Should Have Done Right" and
"I Gotta Get Myself A Woman"
