I had to look up "soporific" (somebody else used that word the other
day too :)---its not a bad song as these things go. I like several versions---obviously The Dominoes is a stand out,Bobby Day has my #2
favorite version and The Ink Spots are always listenable. The Satins
version and The Calvanes are both passable.

Even the mundane Boone is several rungs above his truly horrrible
    things

    I totally agree with Mark.
I felt a bit dejected as soon as I saw the thread title.

Not knowing "soporific" perhaps reflects the limited vocabulary
of UK secondary schools back then. (Roger, frankly, I'm guessin'
that everybody else here is familiar with the word - but then
most folk here, including Bruce, have had a tertiary education of some
    kind...)

Hi Geoff thanks for your concern but don't fret----I've been a fan of
much of 50's music for a very, very long time now and have seen plenty
of others fall by the wayside but I'm still here. I've been on this
newsgroup for something like 25 years now and always managed to more
than hold my own.so I figure I must be doing one or two things right

As for my educational background I appreciate your interest and you're
right it could have been better but on the rare occasions when it
starts to bother me I cheer myself up by reading my latest bank
    statements
