It's a curious cover; Hendrix' timekeeping seems a bit shaky at points. It doesn't come close to besting the Beatles' version of the song.
At the 1:23 mark, one hears Hendrix speaking: "Oh, Owsley, can you hear me now?" This is followed by some other dialogue I can't discern. Owsley, of course, is the famous LSD manufacturer who provided his products free (in enormous quantities when the
consumer was a famous rock star) believing himself to be on some sort of cosmic mission.
