It was a song that Paul wrote while on holiday (in Spain,I think) while staying at a hotel called "Penina". He gave it to the house musician
It's a pretty weak song, in the standard I-VI-IV-V quasi-50s mode. It
has a jazzy, bossa-nova type groove. The melody's very meandering. The
only memorable part is the hook which consists of "Penina" over and
over. *Definitely* Paul's worst song of the 60s.
LenIt's a throwaway, I agree. The bit I've heard from the Get Back sessions is extremely rough.
I read somewhere that the Beatles recorded a song called "Penina."
I think it was a McCartney song from '67 or 68. Has anyone heard of
it? If it exists, why wasn't it on the Anthology?
