I respect their accuracy and attention to detail. But if I were in a cover band, I'd want to reinterpret things a bit.

I wonder what John Lennon would think about such a flawless cover of his song.

Think of all the covers Lennon did. He was never reverent to the original. I think he'd tell the Amalogues to lighten up a bit.

You just don't get it. They are NOT a "cover band." They are a recreation of the Beatles. People want to hear these songs sounding like they did. Nobody gives a fuck about some new spin on these songs. That's why they draw big crowds. If you were in a
cover band doing reinterpretations you'd have 3 drunk assholes at the bar.

On the contrary. "Words Of Love" and "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" and "You Really Got A Hold On Me" and "Slow Down" and some others are extremely reverent to the original.

The Analogues are doing the right thing here. They are trying to sound as close to the Beatles as possible, so people today can see the Beatles music performed live. They are not at all doing their own interpretation of the song.

You'd probably get a lot of angry disappointed/angry audience.

I think there's a false analogy going on here. Sure, Lennon took liberties with his post-Beatles covers ("Baby, Please Don't Go" and most of the R&R stuff). However, he had an established body of work outside of those covers. People went to Beatles
concerts or bought the records for the Beatles; if they wanted to throw in a few covers for fun, fine. People go to see the Analogues to hear accurate renditions of Beatles songs.

Not when you are a Beatles cover band.
And what The Analogues do, even The Beatles did not do.
The Beatles never played Abbey Road live, The Analogues do.
I've seen them doing Abbey Road in 2019 and they are good, really good.

They started touring again, first in The Netherlands.
Go find a ticket and enjoy!
