"In the morning, as soon as John woke up, he wrote on his pad. He spent a lot of time writing the album he planned to make when we returned from [visiting Paul McCartney, who was recording Venus and Mars] New Orleans. Every so often he stopped to play
me what he had written to get my reactions. John was working on a sad song he called 'Tennessee.' It had been inspired by his rereading of Tennessee Williams' 'A Streetcar Named Desire.' I loved it and I told him so."

A *rereading* of the play? I'm impressed. I'd have assumed he was inspired by the movie based on the play with the incredible performance by Vivien Leigh.
