• Tony Monero & John Lennon?

From Norbert K@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jun 29 06:45:48 2022
"Tony Monero, a Brooklyn singer/dancer who says he inspired the inspired the story of his namesake in the hit movie "Saturday Night Fever," told the New York Daily News that he had a PG-rated sexual encounter with John Lennon. A longtime bit-player in
Lennon lore, Monero also says Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, and her aides pressured him to lie about the encounter after Albert Goldman suggested in 1983 that Lennon was bisexual."

    Interesting...
In another coincidence, the disk jockey in Saturday Night Fever was Monty Rock III, who held court at Trude Heller's in the Village back in the day...

My first husband-to-be and I hung out at Trude Heller's at least once a week when we lived in the Village; after we married, and moved to the Upper East Side, it was Ondine and Harlow's...just great fun and a fab workout too...

You're lucky to have lived in such interesting places. I never got to know the Village outside of books & movies.

I realize that now. New York had everything my hometown of Fairfield, CT did not. I just had to live there. I saw Mort Sahl, Dick Gregory, went to the Bleeker, loved a restaurant called The Little Place, and on Sundays would take the NY Times to the
14th street docks and peruse it, sitting in the sun, my legs hanging over the edge. I had no money to speak of, so those were real treats...
