This is one of the songs Lennon was not hostile to in his later interviews; he deemed it "an interesting track" on which the guitar was "great."
IMO, Ringo's performance is one of his best on record.
George Harrison played bass. He's okay in the verses and a bit iffy in the some of the other parts. He obviously doesn't have McCartney's confidence on the instrument.
Harrison helped Lennon assemble the song from various musical parts that Lennon had lying around. The finished song was a "weld-job," according to George.
