The second image in on the last row of persons on the Sgt. Pepper cover is that of occultist Aleister Crowley. This is one of Lennon's choices. Does anyone have any ideas on what impressed Lennon about Crowley? Even Albert Goldman, who delved into Lennon's dark side, doesn't get into this in his Lennon biography.
Other rockers including Jimmy Page and Ozzy Osbourne were also fascinated with Crowley. Page was supposedly deep into heroin at the time of his Crowley obsession, and he probably identified with the author of Diary of a Drug Fiend. Osbourne supposedly was into some of Crowley's occult practices.
What is it about Crowley that impressed Lennon?
