    When The Beatles first performed for the US on the Sullivan show John Lennon was 23.

    When Elvis Presley was 23 he left his career to serve in the army.

    You have US-glasses on.

    The Beatles did not start at the Ed Sullivan show.
    The Beatles were already more then 5 years famous in Europe before they
    came to the US.

    We call this an "apples and pears comparison".
