The "New Years Run" was very mediocre
Many of the shows having major non-musical qualities ( bobby's
grating overdriven sound, the bands general screechiness and
sleepiness, Vinces juvenile treatment of sophisticated music) -- I
remember last years chines new years was so bad it seemed like they
were doing it on purpose. ( I actually mean the day before CNY -- I sold
my CNY tickets in disgust after the show I saw -- which the band
couldn't keep a beat going long enough to dance to).
For $27 bucks they should play really fucking well!
The stuff I've seen lately isn't worth $5.00, and certainly
isn't worth driving 1000 miles for, to be shuffled around, barked at
in the parking lot, and then hosed with questionable music, only
to be shuffled on out, like a piece of processed beef.
And this doesn't include the whole no vending no fun, uptight
    militant scene.

Are people on tour still because they think its going to get
better or have there been some actually musically fulfilling moments
    lately that I've somehow missed?

P.S. Hate to sound like a spoiler, but as a major investor (via tickets)
in the deads sound system and drug habits throught the eighties, I think
we all deserve a little better for our hard earned dough.
This is all sad to me, because I thought in 1990 they were playing the
    best they ever had.

Wait until you see the ticket prices for what's left of them 30 years from now.

Or you can always go see Phish - also in a stadium!
