Well let's speed things up! And I'll start it off with some actual
real live GD content and I think it's from up your way Geez. I
recently stumbled accross this show, which I may or may not have heard
before, and it totally blew me away. It's from somewhat of an
overlooked period in GD history and it's now my favorite piece of Dead
music in the whole wide world:

Buffalo War Memorial Aud. 11/9/79 https://archive.org/details/gd79-11-09.sbd.stern.318.sbeok.shnf

A good chunk of this show was included on one of those Road Trips
releases which is where I might have heard it some time ago. I found
it doing an aimless and random walk through the archives and I've
probably listened to it a dozen times since then just to make sure
that I was really hearing what I thought I was hearing. I was pretty
sure I was, but I then invited my closest Deadhead friend over to take
a listen. We had a nice dinner outside on a beautiful fall evening,
got appropriately loaded, and cranked up the machine to high volume as
we listened out on my deck. We were up and dancing before long, then
it got serious and we moved inside to get closer to the speakers and
the wild & crazy music that was coming out of them. Needless to say,
my buddy confirmed that this was indeed the motherlode and he was in
full agreement with my assessment of the show.

The whole show is worth listening to, but if you want to get right to
the heart of the matter I suggest you start with the end of set1 and
the finest Jack Straw my ears have ever been blessed to hear. Then
    move right into set2 and a Dancin'>Franklin's that I haven't found
adjectives worthy of describing. Quite possible the best 30 minutes of
Dead or anything else that I've ever heard. Maybe I'm exagerrating but
I don't think I am. If you're not jumping out of your skin by the end
of Franklin's you must be dead. A gorgeous He's Gone provides a gentle
landing after Franklin's and it eventually melts into a glorious
extended jam preceding the drums. There's a bit of a surprise in the
jam but I won't spoil it for you, although I did just give you a hint
in the previous sentence. You can go on with the rest of the show from
there but you may be feeling like a limp dishrag by this point so
don't worry if you decide to save it for another time.

I'm not going to go into any rhapsodic, detailed description of the
music that you'll hear in this show. Suffice it to say that the whole
band is just totally cooking and in sync with each other. Everybody
gets there chance to shine and though early in Brent's tenure this is
possibly Brent's finest moment. And one more thing.....if you like
high speed, digging in deep Jerry like I do, you'll love this show.
Lastly, let me just note that this is a pristine board recording that
you can blast as loud as you like and it'll still sound great.

    Thank me later.
