    As I've been enjoying the official Dead offerings on Youtube, I wondered: Have the Dead ever sporadically substituted one or more members due to illness or family emergencies?

    No, usually they would cancel the show. Except once when Jerry ate too much licorice and Bob had to sing all the songs.
