    This Wednesday, June 6, 9--11 p.m., at Folk Night at The Ship
    Pub in St. John’s, Newfoundland, the headliners are Shawna Caspi
    and Sherry Ryan. There is also an open mic set between
    the two headline sets and open mic performers get a free beer.
    Cover is only $5 and there are three door prizes.
    Also the kitchen is open until 8 p.m.

    Here is the blurb from the Facebook event page, which is https://www.facebook.com/events/1911633565795095/

    "Shawna Caspi performs solo, but there’s a whole band under her fingertips.
    A mighty singer, a story sculptor, and a truth teller, she has toured across Canada and the USA and believes in poetry and the power of one person and one instrument, accompanying herself with a remarkable lyrical fingerpicking
    guitar style. Shawna loves the landscapes of her travels and while weaving
    them into her songs, she has also been portraying them on canvases, painting one-of-a-kind works of art inspired by the rich scenery she sees on tour. Shawna is currently touring in support of her fourth album, "Forest Fire", a collection of songs about burning things down and building them up again.

    For over 10 years Sherry Ryan has been winning hearts across the country as
    one of Newfoundland’s finest singer-songwriters. Drifting between country, blues, and folk, Sherry’s songs can lead you down a path of heartbreak,
    hope, and even humour in the space of a single chorus. Her highly anticipated fourth album, Wreckhouse, takes its name from the song ‘Stop The Trains’;
    a gem of a tune written by Sherry and her father, Jim. Her instantly recognizable voice radiates on this Newfoundland classic in the making, and
    the rest of Wreckhouse is no exception. Couple 10 heartfelt songs, with rich vocals, and phenomenal live off the floor performances from her band, and you have Sherry Ryan’s best work yet. She’s earned nation-wide attention, extensive radio play, and multiple music awards and nominations. A talent in the truest sense of the word, Sherry Ryan continues to ring out true and
    clear with her newest release.

    Then after the show I usually go around the corner to hear the last
    set of Andrea Monro at The Black Sheep Pub.
